Wales is known for many beautiful  and picturesque lakes.

Llyn Tegid
Also known as Bala Lake, this lake is situated in Snowdonia National Park, Gwynedd. It is the largest lake in Wales. The lake is 4 miles long and 40 m deep.
The lake is known for its water sports such as yachting, boating and kayaking.
There are a few walking trails here that offer a great vista of the lake.
Llyn Gwngu
A small lake nestling in the Cambrian Mountains. It is on the east of the village Cwmystwyth. To enjoy the beauty of this wonderful lake, you need to trek.
Llyn Teifi
The water source for this river is the River Teifi. There is hardly any habitation here and it is a wild and bleak moorland. So, it's called as the "Desert of Wales."
You can go fishing here or simply walk along the mountain lanes.
Llyn Du’r Arddu
This lake is in North Wales. It's a small lake beneath a 100 meter cliff face. Best time to go there is in summer that too post lunch.
The mountains around this lake are frequented by the rock climbers.
Llyn Idwal
Situated in Glynrau Mountains in Snowdonia, this small lake is only 800 m by 300 m with a pebble beach.
The lake and the surrounding hills offers mind blowing views. Swimming is not advisable as the water is cold.
Llyn Mwyngil/Tal y Llyn
A glacial ribbon lake in Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, it is one of the best lakes in Wales.
Though the size of the lake is approximately 219 acres, it is not very deep. Kayakers and fishermen frequent this lake.
Llangorse Lake
The lake is located near Brecon in Powys. It is the only lake in Wales that has a man made island.
The thatched round house here is built on stilts perched in the lake.
The lake is home to Blue Tailed Damselflies and Water Voles.
The activity center here rents boats and kayaks. Pike fishing is very popular here.
Llys y Fran
The lake Fran is actually a reservoir tucked away in Pembrokeshire. Surrounded by a park, there is also a dam situated here.
The lake is popular among the walkers, cyclists. Boating, and fishing are some of the favored activities.
Lake Vyrnwy
The lake is a natural reservoir in the Elan Valley. The dam's architecture makes it a must-visit place.
There are many species of butterflies and birds here.
Llyn Bodgynydd
The lake is situated in the Gwydir Forest and covers an area of 14 acres. The lake is referred to as Llyn Bod or Bod Mawr. You can go for a walk around the water body.
