11 Places to Visit and Things to Do in Andorra

Ishwari Pamu
The only country in the world that's a co-principality, it's officially known as the "Principality of Andorra". A country whose official currency is Euro though it's not a part of the European Union and whose culture is a fascinating blend of French and Spanish. Andorra is a bag full of surprises.

Explore the Capital

With cobblestone streets and houses built in stone, it seems as if time stopped in the 13th century in Andorra la Vella. Located in the eastern Pyrenees, it is one of the smallest capitals in the world.

Church of Saint Stephen

Built in the 12th century, it's the best Romanesque church in the country and believe me, Andorra has a lot of them. Located in the capital city, it features elaborate wooden decorations and is of immense significance for the people of Andorra.

Skiing

As it's located right in the middle of the Pyrenees, Andorra enjoys snow well from early winter to late springs. And that means more skiing opportunities for you! Soldeu, Vallnord and Grandvalira are excellent ski areas for all skill levels.

El Pas de la Casa

One of the country's best ski resorts, it is popular for its challenging trails - the ultimate place for advanced skiers to be. Located at the border of France, it features 31 ski lifts and is also known for après-ski.

Perfume Museum

With hundreds of unique perfumes on display, this museum chronicles the history of perfumes and how it has evolved over the years. The best thing about the place? You can make your own perfume!

Soldeu Village

A cozy little village and a ski resort, people, tourists and locals alike, arrive here in droves during the months of winter. With 127 miles (205 km) worth of ski runs, it is one of the largest ski resorts in the Pyrenees.

Sant Joan de Caselles Church

The church, located in the village of Canillo, sits amidst soaring mountains and the entire scenery looks like a photograph from the 11th century. Murals of scenes from the Bible adorn the interiors of the church while the Lombardian bell tower adds to the character of the exterior.

The Santa Coloma Church

Known for its unique circular bell tower which is usually square in Romanesque churches, it dates back to the 9th century. It houses some of the most ornate frescoes and arches, and is situated in the village of Santa Coloma.

Caldea Thermal Spa

The largest mountain spa resort in all of Europe, this ultra-futuristic building is one of the most popular spots for health and wellness. With Jacuzzis, hydro jets, relaxing massages, outdoor swimming pools and waterfalls that you can swim under, it has something to offer for all ages and is a perfect spot to let go of your worries and relax.

Encamp

Irrespective of what time of the year you decide to visit the country, Encamp always looks gorgeous. With the Valira d’Orient river cutting through the town, it's dotted with cozy cafes, restaurants and shops. It's also one of the hotspots for skiing during winters.

El Serrat

Another dainty mountain village, it sits at an altitude of 5,100 ft in the parish of Ordino (aka the Lungs of Andorra) . It's a great place if you want to explore the wilderness of Andorra.
