Omsk is  the second largest city  and a major cultural hub of Siberia. The city boasts of magnificent cathedrals,  museums, fortress and more.

Assumption Cathedral
It is one of the largest churches in Siberia. The colorful exteriors and interiors as well as its architecture exhibits the influence of medieval Byzantine period.
Monument of Plumber Stepanych

It was sculpted by sculptors S. N. Noryshev and I. A. Vakhitov and was opened to the public in 1998. It is a beautiful sculpture of a plumber coming out of a sewer manhole with a wrench in his hand. The locals believe, to ensure that your plumbing system is safe and sound, all you need to do is hug this monument.
The museum houses a huge collection of 30 thousand memorial fine arts from Far East. The paintings, graphic art, sculptures done by Russian artists are also displayed here.
District Museum of Visual Arts
Only the remnants of the fortress arch gateway exists. The fortress has a nice stretch of riverside. There are a few small buildings in this complex that would have been storehouses or barracks in the past.

There are many beautiful and impressive buildings that belong to the Soviet-era. There are well-maintained parks and boulevards too where you can take a walk.

Statue Lyuba
Lyuba is a popular sculpture on Lenin Street. She was the wife of  General Governor of Omsk, G. Kh. Gasford.
She died at a very young age due to tuberculosis. The statue and an iron bench was built in her memory. The Statue of Lyuba is a popular tourist attraction in Lenin Street.
The theater was founded in 1947 and has an unusual roof resembling  springboard on the ski slopes. Classical and modern performances are held here along with operas, ballets and operettas. It is a picturesque building visited by musicians from around the globe.

A popular spot visited by both children and adults to see the acrobats performing. If lucky, you may be able to see animals making appearances with the acrobats.
The park is a must visit. It has beautiful walking trails. You can also cycle inside. In winter, ice rink is open. It has rentals from where you can rent skates and skis.

If shopping is in your list, then head towards Lenin Street. Here the vibe is more cosmopolitan with boutiques and cafe buildings of European-style architecture.
Here you can shop for handwoven rugs and other handcrafts. If you are a foodie, you can try out some of their rustic fruit preserves  and jams.
Try Siberian Cuisine
Siberian food is rustic and delicious. Though there are restaurants in Omsk that serve western and Asian palettes, you should try the Siberian sushi -zagutai and stroganini. The plmeni dumplings served in Omsk has bear or rabbit meat as main ingredient.
