Seattle , the largest city in the state of Washington is home to lakes, rivers, mountains and evergreen forest. It is a city on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest.
Lake Washington
Lake Washington is the state's second largest lake and is located between Seattle & Bellevue.
On the south end of the lake there is a path for bicycles as well as pedestrians.
You can rent canoes and rowboats from the rental facility operated by the University of Washington.
Lake Crescent
The lake lies around 18 miles west of Port Angeles is situated within the Olympic National Park. Water of Crescent lake is lucid with blue-green watercolor.
There are hiking trails in the areas around the lake.
There are seasonal lodgings here that are usually closed in winter. The several picnic spots here have fire pits, beach access and picnic tables.
Green Lake
A fresh water lake that occupies 259-acres of land. Surrounding this lake is a 3 mile path where you can walk, bike or roller-skate.
The water sports that are allowed here include swimming, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and boating.
Lake Union
Sailing, dragon boat paddling and kayaking are some of the prominent water sports here.
Situated north of downtown the lake offers gorgeous views of the the Seattle Skyline.
Lake Union is home to firework shows on Seattle Summer fourth.
Lake Quinault
Nestling in the glacier carved Quinault Valley in the Olympic National Park, the lake is surrounded by rain forest.
Canoeing, paddle boarding and kayaking are some of the activities on the serene waters of the lake.
Take a boat tours to enjoy the wildlife such as river otters and eagles among other things.
The area surrounding the lake has amazing hiking trail and scenic waterfalls.
Lake Sammamish
This quaint lake is surrounded by Marymoor Park, Lake Sammamish State Park and Lake Sammamish Trail.
The lake is a popular spot for jet-skiing, kayaking, boating, swimming and more.
A wide-variety of annual events such as Parkadilly Kids’s concert & Fair, Get Outdoors Expo, and Paddlefest take place here.
Lake Cushman
A northwest lake that covers an area of 4000 acre is located at the southeast corner of Olympic National Park. The lake is surrounded by cedar, fir and hemlock trees as well as huge rocks.
Its a popular getaway where you can go swimming, boating, jet skiing, kayaking or fishing.
There are numerous trails here that leads to Mount Rose, Ellinor. Lake Cushman offers camping, and picnicking facilities too.
