Iceland, the land of fire and ice, is known for quite a lot of things, and the ever so beautiful Aurora Borealis are one of them. Though they can be difficult to spot, here are a few places you can see them work their magic.

Located 200 feet above sea level, Oskjuhlid hill is in the center of the city and has an enormous glass dome. It’s the perfect spot to see the northern lights.
Reykjavík
Watch the northern lights waltz over the ocean waters while you sit on the glistening black sand and listen to the sound of the gushing waves.
Head to the Reynisfjara beach in Vik
Thingvellir National Park
About 40 minutes away from Reykjavík, it’s located in the Golden Circle. It is exceptional as a base to view the northern lights as it offers clear night skies.

Skogafoss
To watch the northern lights hover over one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland is truly something else. You can tent right beside the majestic waterfall.

With a range of stiff cliffs, Latrabjarg is a rather off-the-beaten-path location but seeing the northern lights play over, above the cliffs is breathtaking nonetheless. You will find a lot of puffins in this region.
