1. Alamace Battleground
This is the historical site,full of war-related exhibits, commemorating the Battle of Alamace fought in 1771 against issues of taxation. Many believe it to be a pre-cursor to American Revolution.

7. Thomas Wolfe Memorial
This is the historic house of novelist Thomas Wolfe and has been converted into museum in his loving memory. The author lived here during the days of his boyhood.
8. Carl Sandburg Home
The 246-acre site was home to Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and poet Carl Sandburg. Sandburg spent last 22 years of his life here with his wife, Lilian, who raised and bred her goats.
