Plaza 9 De Julio

With its colonial charm, little cafes and cobblestone streets, Plaza 9 De Julio is a walk down nostalgia lane. Palm trees line the plaza enhancing the colonial architecture and feel of this historic square, making this a good starting point for your adventures.

Museo de Arqueologia de Alta Montana

Delve into the history of the country by making a visit to this museum, where among the most popular exhibits are the mummified bodies of three children preserved perfectly for over 500 years.

Catedral Basílica de Salta

Located in Salta’s central square, the Catedral Basílica de Salta with its beautiful pink colour is home to the ashes of General Martín Miguel de Güemes, the revolutionary war hero.

Salt Flats

Remnants of what was once a lake, the Salinas Grandes Salt Flats has the perfect light and and incredible views to take the best pictures. While it is smaller than the salt plains in Bolivia, it measures in beauty and grandeur nonetheless.

Cafayate, the Wine Town

With buses that will take you to and from this gorgeous little town from Salta, Cafayate is at the heart of among the largest wine producing regions. Pro tip: hit up some of the restaurants in the area for excellent food to complement the wine!

Tren a las Nubes

Translating to Train to the Clouds, this runs from April to December and offers some of the most breathtaking views of Argentina. Taking all day, this train goes to some of the most picturesque villages in the countries, perfect for them postcards!

Mercado Municipal San Miguel

While less frequented by tourists, this indoor market which is quite close to Plaza 9 de Julio has everything, from meat to local cheeses and souvenirs, making it a great place to shop!

Cerro San Bernardo

Plan a picnic to see the sun set over beautiful Salta, from the top of the San Bernardo hill, with its little local market, souvenir shop and landscaped garden as you take in the fantastic panoramic views of the city.
