Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty and charm, and plenty of time-honored attractions enough to overwhelm you. Here are a few things you must do when in Nassau.

Visit the Nassau Beaches

Nassau is a home to some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world.
The Junkanoo beach (has a cool party vibe), Cabbage Beach (quite and less crowded), Jaws Beach and the Cable Beach are the most beautiful stretches of pristine white sand and sparkling turquoise waters with incredible beach life.

Diving at Stuart Cove’s

Located on the New Providence island, it’s well-known for snorkeling, SNUBA and diving. Beginners can get diving lessons while experienced divers can suit up for a chance to swim with wild sharks, it sure is an exceptional experience.

The Queen’s Staircase

66 stairs carved out of solid limestone by slaves in the late 18th century connect Fort Fincastle to downtown Nassau.
This 102-feet staircase was later named in the honor of Queen Victoria. Now surrounded by moss, ferns and vines, it looks like the ruins from the Mayan period and makes for great pictures.

Sample Rum

Sample the barrel-aged handcrafted rums and other spirits at the John Watling’s Distillery, set in the Buena Vista Estate. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday.

Explore the Pirates of Nassau Museum

The museum, with all its exhibits, takes you back to the early 1700s when Nassau was an infamous pirate cove and does a pretty good job of telling you the daredevil and sleazy tales of pirate history.

Nassau Public Library and Museum

What was once a colonial prison back in the late 1700s, is now converted into a Public Library & Museum. The prison cells now hold bookshelves, charts, Arawak artifacts and other historical collections. It’s a must-visit for all the history nerds out there.
