Iceland has a number of hot springs throughout the year offering totally different experiences. These are some of the best hot springs in Iceland that you can’t miss.
1. The Blue Lagoon
The most popular hot spring and spa resort in Iceland is located in a lava field near Grindavik in southwestern Iceland.
It is rated as one of the top 25 wonders of the world by National Geographic. The waters are milky, blue and 38-39 degrees Celsius.
2. Myvatn Nature Baths
Myvatn is a volcanic lake near Krafla Volcano in the north of Iceland. This lake is surrounded by beautiful villages and hot springs.
The locals believe this lake to have healing powers. This place is known as the Blue Lagoon of the north because of its blue and milky waters similar to the Blue Lagoon in the southwestern Iceland.
3. Reykjadalur
Also known as Reykjadalur steam valley, these hot springs are very natural.
The path involves a 30-60 minutes hike to get here. A geyser irruption every 10 minutes and the snow-covered environment makes this location unique and interesting.
4. Seljavallalaug
Seljavallalaug hot springs are in the lap of the mountains of south Iceland. It is just an easy hike away from a jaw-dropping experience of manmade pool heated by natural hot springs.
5. The Secret Lagoon
The secret Lagoon is located near the village of Fludir in the Golden circle area.
The temperature is maintained at 39-40 degrees Celsius with the help of an erupting geyser. The surroundings are pleasant and the steaming fumaroles add to the beauty.
6. Hrunalaug
This is a unique spot that gives you a complete intimate opportunity of bathing on a cliff.
The scenic mountains in the surrounding and tranquility in the nature adds to your experience.
7. Grettislaug
Grettislaug is located quite far in the north Iceland with amazing panaroma and relaxing waters. The hot springs offer the view of mountains, nearby islands and oceans giving it a natural feel.
8. Geosea Sea Baths
Geosea is located in Husavik in north Iceland, a very popular location for whale watching.
The hot springs overlook the ocean from a cliff that allows you to spot whales while you enjoy the warm waters.
