Can’t-Miss European Destinations for American Travelers

Kevin Gardner
For many Americans, a European vacation is a lifelong goal. Thanks to transportation across the continent, travelers can navigate from country to country quickly and easily. With such diverse cultures and rich history, it may be difficult to pack everything you want to do into a week or two. Here are some of the best countries to visit.

Great Britain

Whether you’re traveling alone with a backpack or with your entire family and five suitcases holding everything from raincoats to comfy and stylish novelty socks, you’ll want to either start or end your visit in England. England is part of the island country officially known as The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
You already know that England colonized America and many other countries in the last several centuries. Now is your chance to see the seat of that power at Buckingham Palace. You can visit the London Bridge, see Big Ben, and enjoy a high tea service!

Italy

As you venture into Europe’s mainland, you’ll find Italy to be another country rich with tradition, friendly to American tourists, and boasting some of the world’s greatest food!
Between enjoying mouth-watering, world-renowned authentic Italian cuisine, you can see some of Europe’s oldest and most impressive architecture. From incredible Roman cathedrals, to canals of Venice, to great renaissance art museums of Florence, Italy boasts marvels, one of a kind!

France

Italy certainly doesn’t have the European market on cultural history, breathtaking landmarks and exceptional food. France is a welcoming nation filled life and dazzling sights.
Paris is known as the City of Lights, and from iconic Eiffel Tower to Arc de Triomphe and magnificent Champs Elysees, you’ll be amazed with all that is here to take. For added experience of historical and artistic significance, seek out the palace of Versailles and be captivated by its beautiful fountains and impressive halls.

Spain

The summer beauty of Spain is often overlooked on lists like this. While Spain certainly has a fascinating history like many other countries discussed, its festivals are incredible and unique sources of fun.
The “running of the bulls” in Pamplona is a world-famous, one-of-a-kind experience whether you are brave enough to be a part, or simply want to watch from sidelines. For younger jet-setters excited about the beach party scene, Ibiza’s clubs are great.

Greece

On a brighter note, many great attributes of the countries we have covered can be found together in Greece! For young adults, Ibiza like beach party clubs can be found in abundance. History-minded vacationers can visit world’s oldest existing monuments like the Acropolis, the Great Theatre of Dionysus, or Mount Olympus.

Go Take a Trip!

Europe is diverse and familiar, ancient and modern, beautiful and fascinating. A person could spend a lifetime experiencing it, and only scratch the surface. If you only have a few days or weeks to go there, be sure to visit these countries.
