Melissani Cave is located in Kefalonia island, Greece. It appears as a sinkhole with the Melissani Lake beautifully nestled in it. And guess what! There is a tiny island inside the cave too!

Melissani Cave has interesting mythological stories. A nymph called Melissanthi jumped in this lake after god Pan spurned her overtures of love. The lake is hence named after her. Archaeological evidences, and artifacts like lamps, discs and plates were found in 1962 that were reportedly closely related to god Pan and nymph Melissanthi.
