Eiffel Tower

This is one of the most famous places in France. It is a 324 m tall lattice tower named after its designer, Gustave Eiffel. This most visited monument in the world was built in the year 1889. Prior to the construction of Chrysler Building in New York City, USA, the Eiffel tower was the tallest structure in the world.
It served as the entrance for the Exposition Universelle/World Fair of 1889. Three levels of the Eiffel tower are open for visitors. The first and second levels can be accessed by staircases, while a lift is required to reach the third level.

Palais du Louvre

The Palais du Louvre, or the Louvre Palace in English, is the place where the royal family of France lived. The word Louvre means 'a fortified place' in English. It is located between the two important landmarks, Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois and Tuileris Gardens, and is certainly one of the most famous places in Paris. King Louis XIV operated from this place before moving to Versailles in the year 1682.

Center Georges Pompidou

The Beauborg area in Paris has the Center Georges Pompidou, a building which houses IRCAM, Musee National d'Art Moderne, and a big public library. The abbreviation IRCAM, which stands for Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique, is a research center for acoustics and music.
The Musee National d'Art Moderne, a modern art museum present in this building, is the largest in Europe. Inaugurated on 31st January, 1977 by the then President Valery Giscard d'Estaing, Center Georges Pompidou was named after the former president Georges Pompidou.

Notre Dame de Paris

This Roman Catholic cathedral is one of the best examples of French form of Gothic architecture. The arched exterior supports used for Notre Dame de Paris are found in only a very few buildings around the world. The stained glass and other sculptures found in the architecture of this building have been influenced by naturalism.

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is built in the memory of French soldiers. Place Charles de Gaulle is the place where this structure stands. Names of the wars and the generals who fought in these wars are engraved on the inside and top part of this monument. Tomb of the unknown soldier (World War I) is present beneath the Arc de Triomphe. Dimensions of the Arc de Triomphe are 50 m x 45 m x 22 m.

Palais Garnier

The Palais Garnier, also known as Opera Garnier, is an opera house with a 2200 seating capacity. Construction work for this opera started in 1862, and it was inaugurated in 1875. Charles Garnier carried out the designing of this structure. It is one of the best places to see an opera, and is appreciated by music lovers all over the world.
