A midwestern U.S. state with coastlines on 2 Great Lakes (Michigan and Superior) and an interior of forests and farms, ‘Wisconsin’ is one of the USA’s leading dairy producers and is known as "America's Dairyland".
USA has coastlines on both the Atlantic and Pacific as well as the Gulf of Mexico and so there are plenty of beaches for people to best spend their sunny weekends. In the case of Wisconsin, those beaches are on the shorelines of Lake Michigan and to a lesser extent, Lake Superior.
Freshwater lakes of any size can have beaches and so does Wisconsin. While, there are numerous beaches here, you can start with this list of top 10 to find your slice of tranquility.
This blue wave beach having a stretch of 800 meters is included in 51 Great American Beaches. It is an ideal place for picnic with regular musical performances at weekends & children’s playground.
North Beach
This well-maintained and not so busy beach of Kenosha is the only one there. Suitable for a overnight stay with a tent along, it is a must-go beach to have some suntan.
Simmons Island Beach
This stony beach with small limestone pebbles is children’s favorite. The depth offshore increases fairly rapidly, so snorkeling, rafting, and diving are popular pastimes here. While swimming is fun here, do take care of your kids doing so.
Schoolhouse Beach
Inclusion of a few trails for walking and cycling make this lovely stretch of sand an ideal place to relax or enjoy some activities or both. Visit this family-friendly beach to have great time picnicking.
Point Beach
A happening beach with annual karaoke concert in August or the end of season party, concession stands, volleyball, 3 Tiki huts, and cabana rentals, Bradford beach is not a quiet one.
Bradford Beach
Sunbathing, swimming, cycling, hiking are the major activities that you can do at this beach. There is even an 18-hole golf course on hand and during the summer, there is a programme of open-air events.
Peninsula State Park
This dog-friendly nature trail run through a great natural environment of woods, marshes and bluffs. Generally a quiet beach, it will be loved by your kids as they get to skip stones into the water.
Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve
Generally a fisherman’s place in search of trout, bass, and panfish, Crystal Lake is rarely busy, especially on weekdays. There are paved cycling trails that do not detract from the natural environment and campsites if you want to linger a while along with restrooms and picnic area.
Crystal Lake
Canoeing, Kayaking, Camping facilities are popular activities at this lake. This fairly small yet pretty beach is best to take a dip in. Restrooms and showers add on to ease your trip at this beach.
Pattison State Park Beach
This beach is famous for surfing, paddle boarding, canoes or kayaks. The stretch of sand is around 3 kilometres long where you can walk to enjoy the sound of the waves and views of Lake Superior.
Big Bay Beach
Beaches are the best place to feel the warmth of nature and experience it’s beauty!!
