Gorgeous Islands in Turkey

Turkey is home to more than 500 stunning islands distributed in the Aegean Sea and the Sea of Marmara. Also, most islands are unspoiled beauties and a treat for the Mediterranean travelers.
The islands offer amazing beaches, clean atmosphere, natural beauty, and tranquility. Also, they can be easily accessed by boats and even by bridges or causeways.
Akdamar Island
Akdamar, a small island in the middle of Lake Van, is a photographer’s paradise! It is known as the ‘Island of Tolerance’ because of its location amidst the steep rocks. Don’t miss the 10th century Cathedral of the Holy Cross, which is now a monument museum.
Bozcaada Island
It is the third largest island of Turkey and undoubtedly, absolutely stunning! The Greek influence can be seen in the Greek tavernas and white-washed buildings. Also, do try the famous delicacy – tomato jam! 
It is famous for its picturesque beaches, bustling markets, quaint town houses, historical monuments, top-class spas, luxurious resorts, scenic windmills, and the hill-side vineyards.
Cunda Island/Alibey Island
The island is a beautiful Aegean resort town which boasts of Greek ruins and natural beauty. Walk along the cobbled streets, pass the old stone houses, and sip on some Turkish tea! You can also try the native fruity olive oil. 
Hiking is a must-do activity in the Ayvalik Adalari Nature Park because of the stunning pine and olive forests, hidden coves, and the ultimate panoramic views from the top. 
Princes’ Islands
This chain of 9 islands in the Sea of Marmara is quite renowned for maintaining the peace, even with the close proximity to Istanbul. 
Büyükada is the largest among them; which is known for its great vibe, huge bazaar square, flowered gardens, famous restaurants, delicious seafood, and its historical pier.
Heybeliada, Burgazada, and Kinaliada are the next largest and are amazing places to unwind. Also, no motor vehicles are allowed so all you hear and see are the horse carriages or cycles on the cobbled streets.
All these islands are famous for their stunning beaches, the picturesque natural beauty, and for the best place to unwind.
Gökçeada Island
It is the largest island in Turkey and is renowned for its protected and unspoiled landscape. The island is mountainous boasting of dense olive groves and pine trees. The pretty hilltop villages just add to the beauty.
You may also gorge on some Turkish delights and Greek delicacies, while enjoying the wine here. Burn those calories later by swimming or diving at the underwater national park off the north coast. You may spot flamingoes in winters at the salt lake on the island.
Kekova Island
Apart from the common island activities, this island boasts of a sunken city site, Dolchiste. Boat and kayak trips can be accessed to witness the city that was destroyed by an earthquake in the 2nd century.
Chios Island
It is actually a Greek Island but very close to Turkey and can be explored to enjoy both the countries. It is so close that one can actually swim to the island. It is renowned for mastic gum production, which is a medicine that cures many diseases.
