Cockrell Butterfly Center
This butterfly zoo was opened to the public in 1994. The center comprises a three-story glass building. The enclosure is home to a huge varieties of tropical plants and thousands of butterflies. You can view a range of live butterflies, even migratory monarchs. A must-see after the Cockrell Butterfly Center is the Brown Hall of Entomology.
Houston Zoo
The zoological park has over 6,000 animals from over 900 species! The highest standards of animal care are accredited by The Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Houston Zoo was established in 1922.
The latest project is called 'African Forest' and is a real feast for the eyes. It has a Reptile and Amphibian building, John P. McGovern Children's Zoo, Fischer Bird Gardens, Herbert A. & Elizabeth N. Kipp Memorial Aquarium, Janice Suber McNair Asian Elephant Habitat, and the Giant Eland Exhibit.
The Houston Zoo is the only zoo in Texas having this rare species.
