The beautiful state of Hawaii is one of the most visited tourist spots in the world. While there hundreds of fun tales about this island state, here are some interesting facts about Hawaii that you might not have known.

The island state of Hawaii is amongst the most beautiful states in America. It comprises 8 islands: Hawaii, Maui, O'ahu, Kaua'i, Moloka'i, Lāna'i, Niʻihau and Kahoʻolawe. There are more than 100 famous beaches in Hawaii, which attract scores of tourists all year round.
Because of its geographic location, the state has major North American and Asian influences. Apart from tourists, it also is a hotspot for marine biologists, scientists and researchers alike, thanks to its abundant and varied wildlife and natural features.
Hawaii is the only coffee producing state in America. It also happens to be the widest state in all of America. This island state is one of the largest producers of pineapples in the world, and accounts for about one-third of the world's commercial pineapple produce.
Haleakalā Crater in Molokai, is the world's largest dormant volcano. President Barack Obama also hails from this island state. The Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii, is amongst the largest and most active volcanoes in the world.
Its capital, Honolulu, alone has about 100 beaches! The world's largest wind generator is on the island of Oahu. The windmill has two blades 400 feet long on top of a twenty stories high tower. Honolulu has the longest border for any city in the world.
Hawaii is derived from the Polynesian word Hawaiiki, which means ''place of the Gods.''
It is the youngest amongst the American states, being the 50th state to be inducted into America. The islands of Hawaii were formed a few thousand years ago by undersea volcanoes.

In ancient times, the women of Hawaii were not permitted to have fruits like banana, coconuts and certain fish. The penalty for breaking this law was often death!
The oldest Catholic Cathedral in all of America, Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, in Honolulu was built in 1843. Hawaii is the most secluded chain of islands in the world.
