Longest Rivers in Spain

Their name is rio and they twist through a dusty land. Yet Spain is as green as brown, so its rivers snake through forests and valleys too.
Spain has a number of rivers that flow across its landscapes. These rivers are useful in the generation of hydroelectric power, irrigation of land, and for promoting the fishing industry.
The majority and the longest ones amongst the other rivers are as listed.
River Tagus
Having a length of 645 miles i.e. 1007 km, River Tagus is the longest river in Spain. It is the primary source of water supply for the people around and was useful in development of Spain and Portugal.
River Ebro
Ebro is the longest river that is fully in Spain, it has a length of 578 miles i.e. 930 km. It's world-famous for monster wels catfish. It is used in irrigating vineyards and also to support hydro-electric power stations that supply electricity to Spain.
River Douro
The third longest in the Iberian Peninsula, with a length of 557 miles i.e. 897 km, River Duero flows from Soria, in north-central Spain, through to Portugal. Many Spanish and Portuguese towns are built along the banks of the Douro.
The Douro valley, famous for its vineyards, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The river has been used in hydro-electric power generation since 1930. Cultivation of olives and almonds occurs in the river basin.
River Guadiana
Guadiana is the fourth longest river in the Iberian Peninsula. It has a length of 508 miles i.e. 829 km. The Romans referred to the river as the Flumen Anas, the "River of Ducks".
The 30 dams constructed over the river basin are used for irrigation and hydro-electric power generation.
River Guadalquivir
The Guadalquivir is the fifth longest river in the Iberian Peninsula and the second longest river with its entire length in Spain. It has a length of 408 miles i.e. 657 km.
This river has played a leading role in many of the city's historic moments. The Guadalquivir is the river of Seville, the only navigable river in Spain.
River Garonne
The sixth longest river in southwest France and northern Spain, has a length of 374 miles i.e. 602 km.
River Jucar
Seventh on the list is River Jucar, with a length of 309 miles i.e. 498 km. In 1982 the river JĂșcar broke the Tous's reservoir, causing the biggest flood in Spanish history. The flood was called La pantanada de Tous.
River Genil
River Genil is eighth amongst the longest rivers in Spain and is of length 222 miles i.e. 358 km. The Genil River is the main tributary of the river Guadalquivir in Andalusia, Spain.
River Minho
Number nine in Spain and the longest river in Galicia, River Minho is 217 miles i.e. 340 km long. It provides water to agricultural areas; used to generate electricity and makes a way (path) through the mountains for roads and railways.
River Segura
Last but not the least on this list is River Segura, which is at the tenth position in the longest rivers of Spain is of length 202 miles i.e. 325 km.
