Philadelphia Museum of Art, located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, houses about 200 galleries of world-class art. Climbing the iconic Rocky steps to enter the museum is a memorable experience!

History

The museum was founded in 1876, during the nation's first centennial, at the Fairmount Park's Memorial Hall. The present building at Parkway, in the form of three linked Greek temples is designed by Julian Abele. He was inspired by the temples while he was traveling across Greece.

Directions

You can easily locate the building which is just a short distance from the Center City Philadelphia. There is a parking garage at a walking distance from the main building.

SEPTA: 7, 32, 38, 43, and 48 bus routes

Parking: Parking garage is accessible via Art Museum Drive or Waterworks Drive. It costs about $12 for 4 hours and further $2 each additional hour.
