Whenever visiting a place for the first time, it wouldn't hurt to have at least a slight idea of the possible fun things to do when in the city. One of the more popular cities that everyone hopes to visit at least once is Milan, in Italy.

The Duomo, or Cathedral, is said to be one of the largest Gothic structures, and also the third largest church in Christendom.

Visit The Santa Maria delle Grazie Church We've all heard about Da Vinci's The Last Supper. How about seeing it too? A stay in Milan is almost incomplete without going to the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, to have a look at the famous 'The Last Supper' by Leonardo da Vinci.

AC Milan Baby If you are a huge football fan, this is it for you. A trip to Milan, but no AC Milan, or even FC Internazionale, just isn't happening! A trip to the San Siro Stadium, and a visit to the museum is a 'must-do' for any football fanatic.

Shop Haute Couture Shopping at flea markets ain't your thing? If high fashion is more your style, then that is how it shall be done. All the designer names are all gathered up at one spot alone.

Known as the Quadrilatero d'Oro, or very simply the Rectangle of Gold, this spot houses all the big names - Chanel, Versace, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc. It is also home to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, an arcade considered as one of the oldest shopping malls in the world.

Attend an Opera The Teatro alla Scala is a definite yes for any die-hard opera lover. Often known as La Scala, this famous opera house has been around since 1778, and has been the prime venue for several big opera performances.

Stroll Through the Parks Save this one for a day of doing nothing, yet keeping busy. If you are in Milan, kids in tow, make sure you save a day in the least for maybe a picnic with your kids.

There are umpteen parks to choose from, and visit. Some of the best would be Parco Sempione, Parco Forlanini, and Gardino Guastalla, to name a few.

Taste the Cuisine and Coffee What's a visit to any place without tasting some of the local delicacies? Although the days of the unbelievably long lunches seem to be long lost, the food hasn't stopped being as delectable as it used to be.

Whether it's a quickie like a panini or a sandwich, or a fuller meal like pasta and some good meat, the food here will not disappoint you. Also, how can you miss out on some really good coffee when you're here? Make sure you get a good dose of all the coffee you could ever want.

Pamper Yourself Most 'to-do' lists are always made up of the same old things. Visit historic monuments, go to the theaters, etc. But what about some real indulgence if you are on vacation? That is the point of a vacation anyway!

While in Milan, make sure to go to some of the luxury spas that the place has to offer. Some of the best to go to would be Four Seasons Hotel Milano, Hotel Principe di Savoia Milano, and Culti Day Spa.

Enjoy the Feel of Venice Ok, so this is not going to be the real thing like you'd find in Venice or Amsterdam, but consider it pseudo-Venice! Milan's Navigli district may not be anything exceptional in a certain sense, but it most certainly makes for a fun experience.

Even though there are just two canals that can provide you with the Venice-like experience, touring the place on a boat will be one experience that you will enjoy without a doubt.
