Things You Need to Know About the Georgia Guidestones

Wyatt Martin and Joe Fendley are the only two people from Elberton who have actually met R.C. Christian, the person who commissioned the construction of the Georgia Guidestones whose identity is completely shrouded in mystery. Martin acted as Christian's agent, whereas Fendley was the contractor. 

Both men vowed never to disclose Christian's real name and identity, and have kept their word. With Joe Fendley's death, Wyatt Martin remains the only individual in the know about this mystery person. And he's vowed to take this secret to his grave.

A New World Order monument in the Deep South? You've got to be kidding. And yet there it stands―unabashed in all its Sun-worshiping glory.

Described by some as the American Stonehenge, the location of the Georgia Guidestones in Elbert County, Georgia may strike as a bit odd. This city of Elberton in north eastern Georgia is otherwise known for being the 'Granite Capital of the World'. But ever since 1980, a certain granite monument is what's bringing people here.

◼ These Guidestones comprise five slabs of granite―one standing in the center, with four flanking it. There is a granite capstone, which is aligned to a certain astronomical accuracy, as are the five standing slabs below it.

◼ A shorter message is inscribed at the top of the structure in four ancient languages, Babylonian, Classical Greek, Sanskrit and Egyptian hieroglyphs. This reads as "Let these be guidestones to an Age of Reason" when translated.

◼ There are ten guidelines or principles inscribed on either sides of each of the four slabs in eight different languages; one language on each face of the four large upright stones.

The inscriptions are on varied topics like governance, population control, the environment, and spirituality, which are meant for current and future generations.

◼ Moving clockwise from the north side of the monument, these languages are, English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese and Russian.

◼ The monument has a few markings for astronomical purposes. An oblique hole is drilled in the Gnomen stone (central stone) upward toward the sky, oriented on Polaris, the North Star. In the middle of the Gnomen stone is a large slot with a hole cut through it, indicating the summer and winter solstices.

The Guidestones also act as an enormous sundial. Drilled through the capstone is a hole, which allows sunlight to shine on the southern face of the Gnomen stone at noon everyday.

◼ There is another stone tablet located a distance from the monument, which gives us a few hints about its purpose and existence.

◼ The Guidestones monument is 19 feet 3 inches (5.87 m) tall, comprising six granite slabs weighing 237,746 pounds in all.

◼ The four major slabs are 16 feet, 4 inches tall, each weighing approximately 42,437 pounds.

◼ The center stone is 16 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighs 20,957 pounds.

◼ The capstone is 9 feet, 8 inches long, 6 feet, 6 inches wide, and 1 foot, 7 inches thick, weighing 24,832 pounds.

The 10 guidelines on the slabs are listed below:
1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely―improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion―faith―tradition―and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.

6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth―beauty―love―seeking harmony with the infinite.
10. Be not a cancer on the earth―Leave room for nature―Leave room for nature.

A few feet to the west of the monument, one can find another granite slab, set on the ground. This tablet mentions the monument's structure, the languages used on it, facts about its size, weight, and astronomical features of the stones, the date of installation, and the sponsors of the project. Here is the inscription in detail.

1. Channel through stone indicates celestial pole.
2. Horizontal slot indicates annual travel of sun.
3. Sunbeam through capstone marks noontime throughout the year.

◼ Leaving aside all the theories of conspiracy, occultism, and apocalypse that surround this monument, the biggest question that begs to be answered is whose brainchild was this: who was the mystery man or group that designed and funded the project?

◼ Conspiracy theorists allege a global plot on the part of an underground group of men to subjugate the world's population and create a New World Order. This monument stands testimony to their plot.

◼ While some of the 10 guidelines mentioned may seem reasonable, it is the first 3 that are a major source of controversy, since they recommend controlling population under a certain figure, 'guiding' reproduction and ensuring diversity, and at the same time using a common language to 'unite' the world.

◼ Others believe that the man behind the monument was a Rosicrucian, and that the stones are representative of that group's occult manifestos.

◼ R.C. Christian is a clear reference to Christian Rosenkreuz whose English name is Christian Rose Cross, the legendary founder of the Rosicrucian Order.

◼ There is no way to uncover the identity of these "small group of Americans who seek the Age of Reason".

Part of this monument's allure lies in its mysterious origins. Is it a Zionist conspiracy? Masonic? Or perhaps it belongs to the Illuminati? Is it made by someone hoping for a post-apocalyptic New World Order? Try as we might, it does not seem likely that these questions will be answered anytime soon.
