Top Places to Visit in Guanacaste, Costa Rica

It is a province of Costa Rica that borders the Pacific Ocean. Known for its pristine beaches, tropical forest and biodiverse parkland, Guanacaste is for those who love sun, sea and sand. The waters here are crystal clear and in many of the beaches the favorite sporting is snorkeling.

Conchal Beach

Located north of Guanacaste on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, it is one of the exotic beaches in Costa Rica. Conchal beach got its name from the gold sand that is composed of millions of tiny crushed shells.
Conchal beach is known for its clear waters. Snorkeling is the most favored sport here. The more adventurous ones can go for deep sea fishing, or scuba diving.

Papagayo Peninsula

Known for its pristine beaches, the water is crystal clear here. Playa Nacascolo, Playa Manzanillo, and Playa Cabuyal are few beaches to name in the Peninsula. While the first two beaches are ideal for snorkeling, Playa Cabuyal is famous among the surfers.

Tamarindo Beach

Tamarindo Beach is located in Tamarindo town. The beach is known for the strong waves and is sea surfers paradise.

Puerto Carrillo

Puerto Carrillo is a district in Guanacaste Province. It is known as one of the jewel beaches in Costa Rica. Beaches here are surrounded by palm tree, pristine white sand and clear waters.
Some of the activities that you can indulge in the beaches here include horseback riding, yoga, wind surfing, water skiing, kayaking and more.

Santa Rosa National Park

There are beaches close to this national park, therefore it is known for great hiking trails that end in the beaches. Watch out for red land crabs on the hiking trails.
Santa Rosa Park conserves 10 distinctive ecosystems including Oak forest, evergreen forests, tropical dry forest, marshlands, deciduous forest and more. The park is home to many species of insects, animals, reptiles, and birds.

Playas Del Coco

It is one of the fastest growing tourism destination in Costa Rica. Playas Del Coco is one of the oldest beach communities here. The beaches here offer surfing, fishing, bird-watching, kayaking, sailing, jet skiing diving and snorkeling.
