Gujarat is known as the land of rich history with culture, tradition and heritage. Not only architecture but also its handicrafts, wildlife, cuisine and remarkable temples, have made Gujarat one of the most popular tourist destinations world wide.
In fact, the world’s largest white deserts; India’s longest coastline; country’s largest habitat of Asiatic lions and first marine national park of India, are all located in Gujarat.
From Gandhian history to extensive wildlife, incredible architecture to amazing statues, delightful temples to stunning deserts, this state has something for all. Take a look at some of its major attractions.
Statue of Unity
Feather to India’s cap, this 182 meters tall statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is the tallest in the world; completed in 2018. Not only the statue but the area around is now a tourist hotspot with numerous activities and attractions.
Sun Temple
This is one of the surviving Indian shrines dedicated to Sun God and stands as an epitome of exquisite Hindu temple of Solanki dynasty. The  temple is pillared on a lotus-shaped structure and every inch of its walls showcase edgy, detailed carvings.
Gir National Park
Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is the only remaining home for the Asiatic Lions. The place is abundant in water bodies and hence, is home for crocodiles and a variety of birds too.
Rann of Kutch
World’s largest white salt desert, Great Rann of Kutch is unmissable on a Gujarat trip. The virtual shape of this island resembles to that of a tortoise (kachua in hindi) & hence the name Kutch.
The annual festival, Rann Utsav, held during December- February is famous worldwide & is an amazing experience.
Marine National Park
Marine National Park in Gujarat is the first of its kind in India. This park is made of 42 islands, 33 of which are surrounded by coral reef, and is home to diverse marine and bird life. Truly a delightful sight to watch.
Rani ki Vav
Rani ki Vav is a stepwell in the town of Patan in Gujarat. The main highlight are its walls, profusely ornamented with figurative motifs that showcase images of various gods, goddesses & their consorts from the Hindu Pantheon.
Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park
This blend of Islamic and Jain traditions is a UNESCO world heritage site. Different types of heritage monuments of 16th century like tombs, gateways, mosques, temples, fortresses and walls, palaces, and pavilions, helical wells, custom houses make it worth visit.
Girnar
Adding to lush green side between fine golden brown sand of Gujarat, ‘Girnar’ in Junagarh is a group of mountains & a pilgrimage, known for Girnar Parikrama Festival and the Bhavnath Fair, in January and February every year.
Sabarmati Ashram
Quite popular in Indian history books, Sabarmati Ashram was one of the many residences that Mahatma Gandhi had. Earlier known as the Satyagrah Ashram, it is located on the tranquil and serene stretch of Sabarmati River.
Polo Forest
Polo forest is a natural and scenic tourist place in Gujarat located near Abhapur village of Vijay nagar taluka. It is surrounded by mountains where you can explore river, dam, ancient temples and many places considered a must visit in your Gujarat trip.
