Top 10 History Museums of Los Angeles

In a large city like Los Angeles, there is no shortage of museums. There is great diversity here, and those who are interested in history, be it any aspect of it, will not be disappointed. The list is unranked.
1. Located near the Los Angeles Zoo, Autry Museum of the American West showcases the West's history and culture through artifacts, exhibits, plays and much more. A unique thing about this museum is its emphasis on Native American history.
2. California African American Museum, as the name suggests hosts the history of African-Americans ranging from slavery to civil rights to the rise of hip-hop. Completely free to enter, it also hosts artworks by African-American artists.
3. The Chinese American Museum shows the history of Chinese immigration to America, the struggle of the immigrants and many such exhibits showing Chinese American history. Also free to enter, the museum has other facets such as the history of Chinese Americans in Hollywood as well as recreations of old Chinatown shops.
4. Japanese American National Museum, located in Little Tokyo attempts to trace back the history of Japanese-Americans since the first immigrants came to America. 
They intend to inform about many things relating to the Japanese-American experience such as WWII internment camps, the atomic bomb and so on.
5. Located in a property once used by Union Soldiers, Drum Barracks Civil War Museum chronicles California's contribution to the Civil War. The museum offers guided tours. There is also an urban legend that the museum is haunted.
6. Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust can understandably be a very moving experience. The museum has an encompassing number of testimonies from survivors, a reconstruction of the Sobibor camp as well as an audio guided tour.
7. Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County chronicles almost the entirety of the earth's history. There are rock collections, a botanical garden and dioramas of various animals. However, the most famous thing about this museum is the Dinosaur Room.
8. ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives, located at the University of Southern California was a first of its kind museum in the USA. They contain various articles from LGBT activists as well as various papers and periodicals from LGBT history. There is artwork from LGBT artists and there is an audio-visual guided tour too.
9. Grammy Museum at L.A. Live has various showcases relating to previous winners of the Grammy Awards. There are interactive exhibits, original hand-written lyrics on sheets of paper and a recording booth where you can perform your own cover of the songs.
10. The Hollywood Museum is the place to go if one is a movie aficionado. It contains lots of props from many films, including the red slippers Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz and Marilyn Monroe's famous dress. They also have themed exhibits dedicated to famous films.
