History of the City
Over 2,000 years ago, the ninth king of the Kaiming dynasty made this city his empire's capital and named this city. Chengdu's name hasn't been changed since then! Ever since the Han and Tang Dynasties were ruling the country, handlooms, embroidery and brocades with delicate designs have been famous across the region!

Giant Panda Research Base
Let's first address the elephant in the room, or should we say, Pandas in the room!
The Giant Panda Research Base is the place where you can see the giant pandas in their natural habitat (artificially created though!) with bamboo trees and bushes cultivated to provide pandas with their natural habitat and diet.
Mount Qingcheng
Popular for its hiking trails and natural scenic beauty, you can explore the temples and cultural attractions like Jianfu Palace, Tianshi Caves and Shingqing Palace on your way to the top of the mountain!
Anshun Bridge
You can witness the charm of Chengdu city from the Anshun Bridge with the old traditional buildings on one side while huge skyscrapers on the other!

A beautiful sight to see when the banks of the bridge are lit at night. The bridge houses a popular restaurant. You can also visit a few pubs that are present around the bridge.
Wide and Narrow Lanes, Downtown
The traditional-looking shopping area of downtown Chengdu gives you the old-world charm.
With low-slung buildings and imposing archways, food stalls selling the famous dandan noodles and sandapao; the Wide and Narrow Lanes will take you back in time!
Qintai Street
Antique structures, tea houses, jewelry shops, restaurants and the famous Sichuan Opera, Qintai street's 920-meter-long path that is paved with bricks that have pictures of the daily life of people in the Han Dynasty, are some of the famous attractions here.
The Food
Famous for the spicy hot food that includes the spicy Sichuan peppercorn, shouldn't be missed! The local delicacies prepared using this spice may give you a numb feeling as soon as you start your meal.
Best Time to Visit
The period from March to May is the best time to visit the city with fresh spring colors welcoming you! Another window for travel is from September to November i.e. in Autumn when the Jiuzhaigou Valley has an amazing hue of colors on display.
